24 August CW Update

Last night (Friday, 23 August 2019), we went 4 - 2 - 1 (57.1%) and are now 19 - 25 - 1 for this season (44.4%). We had two chances to win lucrative provinces last night (120 gold and 360 gold per day)... one ended in a draw (which is a win for the landowner) and one was a loss. I thought the battle that ended in a draw was against a very beatable clan but they turtled HARD and at least one of our SPGs ran out of ammo. If we play them again, we know their strategy.

Our ELO improved to 746 (+2) and we are currently ranked #100 out of 150 clans in the Alley of Fame. Note: The top 50% earn camouflage, emblems, etc.

Missions:
- "No Prisoners, Regular": 300 gold. We have destroyed 51 of 150 tanks (no change)
- "No Prisoners, Landing": 300 gold. We are at 88 of 150 destroyed tanks (+65)

To date, 62 members have participated in this season of Clan Wars.

Callers (minimum five called battles):
- Stainless: 40% (4 of 10)
- Ghost: 36% (9 of 25)

Commentary:
Personally, I thought we had one of the better nights so far this season. While we didn't take any land, we had two pretty good chances.

Towards the end of the night, we had two battles at the exact same time (because we didn't count on getting a technical win in the second round). However, we only had enough people signed up for ONE TEAM. Thankfully, the clan rallied and we were able to put together two full teams.

We made significant progress on one of our missions when we destroyed 65 tanks last night. Unless we win land tonight, that mission will likely be completed within the next two days and help increase our ranking. If we win land tonight, we will decide whether it's gold payout is enough to warrant keeping the province.

25 August CW Update

Last night (Saturday, 24 August), we went 4 - 3 and we are now 23 - 28 - 1 for Season 12 (45.1% win rate). We defeated The Sea Monkeys for the island of Sardinia, earning us 120 gold per day.

Our ELO improved to 777 (+31) and we are currently ranked #98 of 153.

Missions:
- "No Prisoners, Regular": 300 gold. We have destroyed 51 of 150 tanks (no change)
- "No Prisoners, Landing": 300 gold. We are at 123 of 150 destroyed tanks (+35)
- "No Prisoners, Revolting": 300 gold. We have destroyed 20 of 150 tanks. (+20)

63 of 85 members who have played in the last 28 days have participated in Clan Wars (74.1%).

Callers (minimum five called battles):
- Ghost: 40.6% (13 of 32)
- Stainless: 40% (4 of 10)

Commentary:
Our first battle last night was against one of the top clans, [200IQ]. There were few choices for lucrative battles and we thought there was a chance the province would be undefended. This was a battle against the landowner.

Our next set of battles was for the island of Sardinia, where we defeated [-RUN-], [CRIMZ], and finally the landowner [SEA-M]. As expected, the landowner camped hard. This province is a permanent landing zone so cannot be attacked from adjacent provinces (although we can attack out). On the other hand, any clan not on the Global Map can drop on us.

The third set of battles was a loss when we were outcapped by [-RUN-] although we were beating them. We simply failed to react quick enough to their fast cap.

The fourth set of battles was somewhat unusual because we were the highest rated clan among the challengers, therefore we received a bye for the first round. At the time we dropped on the province, we were not the highest rated clan, but our success in Sardinia bumped us. In the second round, we handily defeated [TAC-D] but lost against the landowner.

We had three battles last night against the landowners. That means that a LOT of tanks got locked out, some for up to 72 hours (but only for land ownership battles (defending or attacking). This is a major reason to have a diverse set of Tier 10 tanks. For example, primary and secondary: fast heavies, mediums, super heavies, gun depression heavies, etc. Obviously, getting a diverse set of Tier 10 tanks is a LONG TERM PERSONAL GOAL and not something that's quickly done.

When we eventually defend our province tonight (which could be any time starting at 9:15pm EST, depending on how many clans attack us), that defending battle will preclude locked tanks.

26 August CW Update

Last night (Sunday), we went 1 - 0 while successfully defending our province from the only attacking clan. For the season, we are now 24 - 28 - 1 (45.2% win rate).

Our ELO increased to 793 (+16) and we are currently ranked #97 out of 154.

Missions:
- "No Prisoners, Regular": 300 gold. We have destroyed 51 of 150 tanks (no change)
- "No Prisoners, Landing": 300 gold. We are at 135 of 150 destroyed tanks (+12)
- "No Prisoners, Revolting": 300 gold. We have destroyed 20 of 150 tanks. (no change)

Commentary:
Since we have a moderately lucrative province (120 gold/day), we will probably just squat for a while, perhaps attacking outwards on occasion. Please keep in mind that every time that we defend our province, that is a land battle and will lock out destroyed tanks for up to 72 hours.

Monday night (26 August), we went 1 - 0 while once again successfully defending our province from an attacking clan. For the season, we are now 25 - 28 - 1 (46.3% win rate).

Our ELO increased to 807 (+14) and we are currently ranked #87 out of 154 (+10).

Missions: We completed a mission last night for 300 gold.
- "No Prisoners, Regular": 300 gold. We have destroyed 51 of 150 tanks (no change)
- "No Prisoners, Landing": 300 gold. We are at 0 of 150 destroyed tanks (start over)
- "No Prisoners, Revolting": 300 gold. We have destroyed 20 of 150 tanks. (no change)

Commentary:
This can always change, but as of right now, we have two clans attacking us tonight (Tuesday night). Attacking clans will play each other for the right to fight us as the land owner. Battles are separated by 30 minutes.

Personally, I feel this is the worst Clan Wars season that I've known (I've played in all of them, except one). But it's not the worst because of any lack of success, it's because of the way this season has been structured by WGNA. In reality, our season win rate (46.3% to date) is the highest win rate we've had so far, almost 15% higher than our historical Tier 10 win rate. If we would have had this win rate in the most recent campaign, we might have had double the number of people getting a reward tank (I don't know for sure, but I think we had around 10 or 12 people get one, all by bidding).

Our ELO is the highest its been in a long time.

Our relatively low ranking (by our standards) is a function of the way WGNA created this season. My guess is that even WGNA will agree this is one of the worst. They could just look at the Global Map and compare the number of battles for this season versus any other season and would see a substantial decrease. Clans are just not fighting as much. We are a good example ... so far this season, we are averaging 3.2 battles per day while during the most recent campaign, we were averaging over 20.

Since we have a moderately lucrative province (120 gold/day), we will probably continue to squat for a while, perhaps attacking outwards if we can field two teams at the same time. Please keep in mind that every time that we defend our province, that is a land battle and will lock out destroyed tanks for up to 72 hours.

Last night (Tuesday, 27 August), we lost our province, going 0 - 1 for the night.

Our ELO fell to 803 (-4) and we are currently ranked #90 out of 156 clans.

Missions:
- "No Prisoners, Regular": 300 gold. We have destroyed 51 of 150 tanks (no change)
- "No Prisoners, Landing": 300 gold. We are at 3 of 150 destroyed tanks (+3)
- "No Prisoners, Revolting": 300 gold. We have destroyed 20 of 150 tanks. (no change)

Commentary:
For whatever reason, a significantly higher ranked clan dropped on four clans who were ranked about the same as us. That clan (DAGOD) soundly defeated our toxic camp strategy.

As a result of not owning land, later this afternoon we will schedule battles according to our sign-up sheet (currently, we only have full teams for the second and third hours (out of five).

29 August CW Update

Last night (Wednesday), we went 4 - 3, winning a 360 gold per day province. For the season, we are 29 - 32 - 1 (46.8% win rate).

Our ELO increased to 813 (+10) and we are currently ranked #88 out of 158 clans (our ranking will increase during the day).

So far, 64 clan members have participated in Clan Wars this season out of 84 who have played WoT in the last 28 days.

Missions:
- "No Prisoners, Regular": 300 gold. We have destroyed 51 of 150 tanks (no change)
- "No Prisoners, Landing": 300 gold. We are at 68 of 150 destroyed tanks (+65)
- "No Prisoners, Revolting": 300 gold. We have destroyed 24 of 150 tanks. (+4)

Our best maps so far (minimum of five battles):
- El Halluf (75% win rate)
- Westfield (57.1%)
- Prokhorovka (50%)

Opponents:
- [RAIDM] (75% win rate)
- [T-GBU] (67%)
- [-RUN-] (50%)
- [HARMZ] (50%)

Callers (minimum of five battles called and removing red lights):
- Ghost: 44.4% (16 of 36)
- Stainless: 40% (4 of 10)

Commentary:
We had a good night last night, destroying 69 total tanks and capturing a lucrative province (360 gold per day). It's worth it to us to squat on the province as long as we can.

Our participation rate is good, although there are 20 members who have played the game but cannot (or chose not) participate in Clan Wars.

More disappointingly, this season we've had to rely on two primary callers, with the real burden falling on one person. Thankfully, Ghost has the willing attitude to call any battle, any map. Also thankfully, Bedoya was able to call the last two battles of the night (a win and a loss) to give Ghost some relief.

Ghost you’ve been awesome this season. Sorry I haven’t been able to help but 2020 budget season at work has had me in early most days.

I’d like to give a shout out to Rubicite and Hardcorpse as well for map management.

30 August CW Update

Last night (Thursday), we fought one battle and lost. That was for the ownership of our province. For the season, we are now 29 - 33 - 1 for a 46% win rate.

Due to losing that one battle, our ELO fell to 798 (-15). We are currently ranked #86 out of 158 clans.

Missions:
- "No Prisoners, Regular": 300 gold. We have destroyed 51 of 150 tanks (no change)
- "No Prisoners, Landing": 300 gold. We are at 77 of 150 destroyed tanks (+9)
- "No Prisoners, Revolting": 300 gold. We have destroyed 24 of 150 tanks. (no change)

Commentary:
As we've done previously, we will revert to our sign-up sheet and use that to determine when and how many times we attack other clans. Currently, we have enough people signed up for one team at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, and 11pm (all EST). If possible, we will to attack provinces where we think we can improve our mission status and have a chance at winning a lucrative province.

Last night (Friday, 30 August 2019), we went 3 - 3 (one was a technical win) and for this season, we are 32 - 36 - 1, for a 46.4% win rate. Our technical win was for an undefended province that earns 360 gold per day.

Our ELO increased to 803 (+5) and we are currently ranked #84 out of 159 clans. This ranking is in the top 53% and we need to get into the top 50% for clan rewards such as camouflage.

Missions:
- "No Prisoners, Regular": 300 gold. We have destroyed 51 of 150 tanks (no change)
- "No Prisoners, Landing": 300 gold. We are at 107 of 150 destroyed tanks (+30)
- "No Prisoners, Revolting": 300 gold. We have destroyed 47 of 150 tanks. (+23)

Calling (minimum of five called battles):
- Ghost: 43.6% (17 of 39)
- Stainless: 41.7% (5 of 12)

Commentary:
We received our province because another clan had advanced intelligence that the province was undefended and let us know with a few minutes to spare. Therefore, we changed our schedule at the last minute and dropped on the undefended province, although we had a team available in case it was actually being defended. This is another example of why clans and clan members should try to take the high road when we behave in game.

We will likely squat on this province for a while despite it having a relatively late battle time of 10:15pm EST. This late battle time should be fine during this holiday weekend, but we will have to look at the sign-up sheet to see if it is sustainable during the work week. The province map is Karelia and the province IS NOT a permanent landing zone. That means it can be attacked by adjacent provinces. Unfortunately, two of the three clans that border us are MAHOU and -G-, if they wanted to attack. However, neither clan is very active in Clan Wars once they took their original provinces. -G- has only fought four battles in the last 11 days while MAHOU has only fought three in the same time. The third adjacent clan can be beaten by us should they attack us or we attack them.

1 September CW Update

Last night (Saturday night), we went 7 - 3 (one was an automatic win and one was a technical win). For this season, we are 39 - 39 - 1 (49.4% win rate).

Our ELO increased to 820 (+17) and we are currently ranked #81 out of 160.

Missions: We completed one mission last night for 300 gold.
- "No Prisoners, Regular": 300 gold. We have destroyed 51 of 150 tanks (no change)
- "No Prisoners, Landing": 300 gold. We are at 43 of 150 destroyed tanks (+86 ... a record for this season)
- "No Prisoners, Revolting": 300 gold. We have destroyed 47 of 150 tanks. (no change)

Calling (minimum of five called battles):
- Stainless: 50% (8 of 16)
- Ghost: 45.5% (20 of 44)

Commentary:
We were offered a land swap by an adjacent clan and we accepted. It gave us the same province income (once our HQ comes off cooldown in a few more hours) and a permanent landing zone instead of a regular province. Again, a permanent landing province CANNOT be attacked by adjacent provinces, although anyone NOT on the Global Map can drop on us. The clan that offered the swap actually lost all of their provinces EXCEPT the one that we gave them. They may not have understood the value of a permanent landing province (which also includes no revolts).

This province is now completely surrounded by MAHOU (ELO: 1647), CLAWS (ELO: 1240), and FOCUS (ELO: 1370), none of which can attack us.

In addition to the land swap, we won a 3-round tournament for a 24 gold-per-day province, defeating the land owner when they didn't show.

As happened earlier this season, when we received a 2nd round bye for a 9:30pm battle, it forced two battles at the exact same time when the sign-up sheet only had one team available. The clan members responded and we were able to fill two complete teams (except one team lost a member in literally the last two seconds when his keyboard disconnected). That team went into battle short-handed.

We are debating whether to leave the Global Map again or to start earning province income of 15 gold per hour starting about 6pm EST. The two provinces that we own are separated by two time zones so the 24 gold-per-day province doesn't provide income although it may be useful as bait for mission progression if mediocre clans drop on us.
