Clan Wars Season 14

Post by Rubicite » Fri Mar 13, 2020 7:11 am

https://worldoftanks.com/en/news/clan-w ... ouncement/

25 March - 14 June (yes, that's about 2.5 months long)

There are changes to the last couple of Clan Wars seasons (not campaigns) which appear to benefit our type of play:
"Previously, one of the most profitable ways to earn Gold during a Season was from holding Provinces. This season, via the quest system, we are making Auctions and Revolts the most lucrative ways to earn Gold. This means that Clans who want to earn a lot of profits will leave the map daily and attack again each primetime."

This appears to be a gold-generating season.

Top 50% of clans receive camo ("nightfall style"), emblems, and a decal.

Post by Rubicite » Wed Mar 25, 2020 8:23 am

Starting Tier 10 ELO: 770
Starting Tier 10 CW win rate: 36.35%

Historically, these have been our best maps:
- Live Oaks: 45.45% win rate
- El Halluf: 43.10%
- Sand River: 42.86%
- Ruinberg: 42.42%
- Murovanka: 40.91%

Note: there is NO maximum number of times to complete CW missions, which means the clan can accumulate a lot of gold through missions:
- Destroy 15 tanks in an auction province: 250 gold
- Destroy 30 tanks in a landing (non-revolting) province: 250 gold
- Destroy 90 tanks in a revolting province: 3000 gold
- Capture a revolting province: 2000 gold

CW Update: 26 Mar 20

Post by Rubicite » Thu Mar 26, 2020 9:44 am

Last night (Wednesday, 15 March), we went 3 - 4 (42.9%). We completed one clan task for 250 gold.

Our ELO increased to 780 (+10) and we are currently ranked #98 in Tier 10 Clan Wars.

25 clan members participated in Clan Wars last night.

Mission Status:
"No Prisoners" (250g): 20 of 30 tanks destroyed.

Commentary:
The clan had a good run on Abbey, only losing in the final boss fight against MAHOU.

Our strategy is to kill tanks since that is how we'll earn the most clan gold. Killing 15 tanks and winning is the best outcome, but killing 14 tanks and losing is also a good outcome. We will earn the most gold by simply killing tanks. Occupying land is a morale boost but only provides a small amount of gold to the clan.

CW Update 27 Mar 2020

Post by Rubicite » Fri Mar 27, 2020 1:26 pm

Last night, we went 2 - 4 (33.3%) and for the season, we are 5 - 8 (38.5%).

Our ELO decreased to 770 (-10) and we are currently ranked #81 out of 155 clans.

We completed two more clan tasks last night.

Mission Status:
"No Prisoners" (250g): 8 of 30 tanks destroyed.

Commentary:
There are only two landing provinces in the first time period. So far, one has been on the SA server and one on US Central. That is why we've been fighting on the SA server in the early battles.

There continues to be plenty of participants and the new members are getting involved.

CW Update: 28 Mar 2020

Post by Rubicite » Sat Mar 28, 2020 10:13 am

Last night wasn't the best night for us. We went 1 - 4 (20%). For the season, we are now 6 - 12 (33.3%).

Our ELO decreased to 756 (-14) and we are currently ranked #89 out of 171 other clans who are ranked.

32 clan members have participated in Clan Wars this season.

We completed one clan task last night.

Mission Status:
"No Prisoners, Landing, Non-Revolting" (250g): 18 of 30 tanks destroyed.
"No Prisoners, Revolting" (3000g): 6 of 90 tanks destroyed

Commentary:
The sign-up sheet is now fixed so we can rely on that information again.

Revolting provinces give far more gold for the effort than non-revolting provinces. Where it makes sense, we will prioritize revolting provinces to attack.

What is the significance of the ELO rating?
The ELO system was created by Arpad Elo, a Hungarian-American physicist, on behalf of the US Chess Federation (USCF). The USCF implemented Elo's system in 1960. It is intended for zero-sum situations in which gains and losses always balance.

In World of Tanks, the ELO rating determines opponents in the first round of a landing tournament. The system places similar ELO clans as first round opponents in an attempt to be fair. The better your ELO, the better clans that you face in the first round.

Opponents for second and subsequent round battles in a landing tournament are determined by your damage/kills/relative ELO in the first round battle. Again, this is an attempt to be fair so that clans that annihilate their opponents face each other. Unfortunately, that can create a large skill imbalance in second rounds and beyond (which is obviously not fair).

29 Mar CW Update

Post by Rubicite » Sun Mar 29, 2020 9:20 am

Last night, we went 2 - 4 (33%) and for the season, we are 8 - 16 (33%).

Our ELO declined to 750 (-4) and we are currently ranked #91 out of 178.

We completed another clan task last night (five total this season). Last night, the clan earned 250 gold and for the season, the clan has earned 1,250 gold.

Mission Status:
"No Prisoners, Landing, Non-Revolting" (250g): 5 of 30 tanks destroyed.
"No Prisoners, Revolting" (3000g): 33 of 90 tanks destroyed

Commentary:
We made progress on attacking revolting provinces last night but it seems most clans realize there's far more gold in revolting provinces than non-revolting provinces. For example, if we destroy 90 tanks on a revolting province, we receive 3000 gold. However, if we destroy 90 tanks on a non-revolting province, we only receive 750 gold. Additionally, if we capture a revolting province, that's a bonus award of 2000 gold.

30 Mar CW Update

Post by Rubicite » Mon Mar 30, 2020 10:32 am

Last night was the best night we've had this season, so far. We went 5 - 4 (55.6%) and we are now 13 - 20 (39.4%) for this season. One of our wins was a technical victory.

Our ELO increased to 775 (+25) and we jumped to #48 (+33) in the Clan Wars rankings out of 184 other clans.

We completed a major clan task last night, earning 3,000 gold for the clan for a total of 4,250 so far this season.

39 clan members have participated in Clan Wars so far.

Mission Status:
"No Prisoners, Landing, Non-Revolting" (250g): 5 of 30 tanks destroyed.
"No Prisoners, Revolting" (3000g): 0 of 90 tanks destroyed

Commentary:
Two days ago, we decided to prioritize revolting provinces and that paid off last night. We will continue to do this.

What are the different types of provinces?
1. Landing provinces are provinces that clans can attack without already owning a province. Some landing provinces are static and remain landing provinces throughout the season. Others are dynamic in nature and can change from day to day. Landing provinces can have up to 32 clans attacking them. All attacking clans fight each other in a single-elimination tournament for the right to fight the province owner.
2. Auction provinces are those in which clans can bid influence points for the right to directly attack the owner. Bidding clans will not know the winning bid until it is too late to change anything. That means that a clan can bid and if they lose the bid, they might not have a battle for that time period.
3. Regular provinces are neither landing nor auction provinces. Regular provinces can only be attacked from adjacent provinces. Regular provinces can turn into a dynamic landing province.
4. Revolting provinces are those that have unrest in the population. Unrest can be a natural part of owning a province for several days or unrest can be generated by other clans by investing their influence. Revolting provinces can be landing, auction, or regular provinces.

31 March CW Update

Post by Rubicite » Tue Mar 31, 2020 9:10 am

Last night we followed a good night with a bad night. We went 1 - 3 (25%) and we are now 14 - 23 (37.8%) for this season.

Our ELO declined to 763 (-12) and we dropped to #69 (-21) in the Clan Wars rankings out of 188 other clans.

Mission Status:
"No Prisoners, Landing, Non-Revolting" (250g): 5 of 30 tanks destroyed.
"No Prisoners, Revolting" (3000g): 32 of 90 tanks destroyed

Commentary:
The number of people who have signed up is slackening. Last night, we had full teams signed up for the first, second, and third hours. Tonight, we only have full teams signed up for the second and third hours.

Please encourage (or continue to encourage) people to sign up. Often people who failed to sign up will show up in the queue, but there are also signed-up people who have real life happen to them at the last minute. There may be times we drop on provinces without a full team signed up, but that's a risk to the entire clan so we don't do that very frequently.

We continue to prioritize revolting provinces over any others (previous updates have explained why).

1 April CW Update

Post by Rubicite » Wed Apr 01, 2020 11:50 am

Last night (Tuesday, 31 March), we went 3 - 3 and for the season, we are now 17 - 26 (39.5%).

Our ELO increased to 775 (+12) and we are now ranked #78 out of 193 ranked clans in Tier 10 Clan Wars.

To date, 40 clan members have participated in Clan Wars this season.

Mission Status:
"No Prisoners, Landing, Non-Revolting" (250g): 5 of 30 tanks destroyed.
"No Prisoners, Revolting" (3000g): 80 of 90 tanks destroyed

Commentary:
We should complete the 3000 gold clan task tonight, which should substantially increase our clan ranking.

Does our clan ranking matter?
Well, it does to some people. If we finish in the top 50% of participating clans, everyone who meets the requirements will receive a camouflage ("Nightfall Style"), emblems, and a pin-up girl decal. The top 70% will receive a participation emblem, while the bottom 30% will receive nothing.

What are the requirements mentioned above?
You must play at least five Clan Wars battles in this season and you must still be a member of the clan at the end of the season.

2 April CW Update

Post by Rubicite » Thu Apr 02, 2020 9:18 am

Last night (Wednesday, 1 April), we had our best night in Clan Wars for this season when we went 5 - 2 (71.4%) and captured a province in a 5th round battle against a boss mob. For the season, we are now 22 - 28 (44%).

We completed two clan tasks for 3,250 gold for the clan.

Our ELO jumped to 805 (+30) and we are now ranked #62 out of 196 ranked clans in Tier 10 Clan Wars.

Mission Status:
"No Prisoners, Landing, Non-Revolting" (250g): 27 of 30 tanks destroyed.
"No Prisoners, Revolting" (3000g): 8 of 90 tanks destroyed

Callers (with at least five called battles):
- Stainless: 60% win rate
- Ghost: 43.9% win rate

Commentary:
We weren't sure that we would have enough people to complete a full team for the later battles last night. Since we fought (and won) a fifth round battle, that would have been two hours after the first scheduled for that time period when we didn't have 15 people signed up. Fortunately, we were able to field full teams all night.

The province that we won is earning 3 gold per hour. We know that's not much, but every little bit helps. We plan to abandon that province this afternoon because:
1. It's 3 gold per hour and we think we can complete missions to earn an average of 1000 - 1500 gold per day;
2. Owning any province restricts clans from attacking any where and any time that makes the most sense;
3. Owning any province means that we must defend that province against a tournament winner with an unknown time for the battle. It could range from immediately up to 2.5 hours later (when we might have difficulty fielding a full team; and
4. It's ONLY THREE GOLD PER HOUR.

3 April CW Update

Post by Rubicite » Fri Apr 03, 2020 11:55 am

Last night (Thursday, 2 April), we went 2 - 3 (40% win rate) and for this season, we are now 24 - 31 (43.6%).

Our ELO remained the same at 805. Currently, we are ranked #68 out of 199 other ranked clans.

Mission Status:
"No Prisoners, Landing, Non-Revolting" (250g): 21 of 30 tanks destroyed.
"No Prisoners, Revolting" (3000g): 19 of 90 tanks destroyed

Commentary:
Please encourage or continue to encourage people to use the sign-up sheet. That's our primary tool to determine if there are enough people interested in participating in Clan Wars.

4 April CW Update

Post by Rubicite » Sat Apr 04, 2020 10:48 am

Last night was another good night. We went 5 - 3 (62.5%), reaching the 3rd round twice and the 4th round once. For the season, we are now 29 - 34 (46%).

Our ELO increased to 836 (+31) and we are currently ranked #61 out of 200 other ranked clans.

To date, we have earned 10,795 gold for the clan.

44 members of the clan have participated in Clan Wars this season.

Mission Status:
"No Prisoners, Landing, Non-Revolting" (250g): 28 of 30 tanks destroyed.
"No Prisoners, Revolting" (3000g): 4 of 90 tanks destroyed.

Callers (minimum of five battles):
- Stainless: 60%
- Ghost: 46.3%

Commentary:
It is still early in the season, but we are winning more battles than usual. Our historical win rate is approximately 35% and so far this season, we are at 46% in 63 battles.

We only have one technical victory and have not suffered a penalty yet.

So far, we are averaging over 1,000 gold per night of Clan Wars.

Having said that, we are struggling to get people to sign up for Clan Wars. As of 10:45am, we don't have a full team signed up for tonight, tomorrow night, Monday night, etc.

Please encourage people to fill out the sign-up sheet so we can plan and schedule battles.
